About The Position

The Welcome Center Coordinator at the Village of Oak Park is responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating the operations of the Village Hall Welcome Center and the Welcome to Oak Park program. This role emphasizes excellent community engagement and customer service, ensuring a welcoming experience for all visitors and residents. The coordinator will work closely with diverse community members and stakeholders to enhance the services provided by the Welcome Center and facilitate effective communication between the Village and the public.

Requirements

  • At least three years of professional-level experience involving direct contact with community members and performing program development and administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in public/community relations, urban planning, political science, psychology, sociology, social justice, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of planning and implementation methods for effective public participation.
  • Familiarity with recent developments in community and civic engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evaluate operations of the Village Hall Welcome Center and Welcome to Oak Park program in collaboration with the Neighborhood Partnerships Administrator.
  • Implement and coordinate operations of the Village of Oak Park Welcome Center, ensuring high levels of customer service to all visitors.
  • Facilitate a welcoming in-person experience for visitors at the Welcome Center.
  • Evaluate and adjust operations to better meet Village goals and community needs.
  • Implement and coordinate operations of the Welcome to Oak Park program, ensuring a welcoming experience throughout the community.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Village operations to support customer service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to assist in service delivery.
  • Coordinate and conduct meetings on neighborhood issues and concerns.
  • Act as a receptionist, providing information on departmental and Village policies and procedures.
  • Assess needs for language and disability access in collaboration with DEI and Communications and Engagement offices.
  • Make public presentations to various councils, boards, commissions, and community groups.
  • Build positive working relationships with coworkers and the public using good customer service principles.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive documents and information.
