About The Position

Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services is looking for enthusiastic candidates that are skilled in working with all ages and abilities in a fitness environment. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the weight room, customers, cleaning, general equipment orientation and implementing fitness center policies. Experience in this field, as well as exceptional customer service and problem solving is desired. Ability to work 5:45am to 8:15pm Monday through Saturday. Job locations include Firstenburg Community Center and Marshall Community Center.

Requirements

• Previous work or volunteer experience or training in assigned program
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED card required within 30 days of employment
• Additional training/certification as required by department or position
• Work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends 5:45am to 8:15pm
• Respond quickly and effectively in an emergency situation
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with the public, program participant and other city employees
• Interact well with a diverse group of program participants
• Read, write and follow instructions
• Monitor compliance
• This position is subject to successful completion of a pre-employment reference check, and a basic criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and work well with all ages, abilities of customer and team of City employees
• Administer equipment safety orientations
• Assist in providing a safe program and environment for participants and staff, including some heavy lifting
• Understand and implement City of Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services operating principles and procedures
• Perform other duties as required through assigned program
