About The Position

The Weigh Station - Program Manager at the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is a leadership role responsible for overseeing diverse operations, customer service, legal, and policy initiatives within the Size and Weight program. The position involves shaping policies, managing projects, and collaborating with the Director to achieve program goals while engaging with public and private sector partners.

Requirements

  • Strong background in developing policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in project management concepts and techniques.
  • Experience in budget development, tracking, and reporting.
  • Skilled in electronic information transfers.
  • Knowledgeable in weights & measures techniques and management principles.
  • Ability to write, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, rules, regulations, and statutes.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data for management or federal reports and impact statements.
  • Proficient in using technology both in the office and off-site.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to promote efficient and effective operations.
  • Skilled in researching and coordinating resources.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing policies and procedures for a motor carrier agency or highly desired industry.
  • Experience with Federal Highway Administration and ITD/PRISM programs.
  • Experience with project management in the Motor Carrier environment, and OECSWS preferred.
  • Experience managing reports and compiling and reporting OECSWS weight and violations data.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director to plan, develop, and implement programs supporting ITD/PRISM and Federal Highways Administration initiatives.
  • Engage with statewide and national partners to enhance programs and policies.
  • Collect and analyze data to prepare comprehensive internal and external management reports.
