About The Position

This position is accountable for training new merchandisers on all aspects of their jobs from vehicle usage to proper driving techniques, backroom procedures, stocking and rotating, and display building, restaging and removal. Also covers for open routes when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • An understanding of alcoholic beverage industry
  • Ability to work with computer programs associated with the performance of the position.
  • Must be a results oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills; uses diplomacy and discretion
  • Ability to work well with all levels of the organization, to organize, prioritize, negotiate, manage, motive others and solve problems
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
  • Highly professional, with ability to interface well with internal and external contacts
  • Have strong customer service and interpersonal expertise
  • Decision making, thoroughness and time management a must
  • Knowledge of geographic areas; familiarity with assigned territory
  • Possess a valid Texas drivers license and have an acceptable MVR
  • Valid TABC License
  • Pass background and drug screens

Nice To Haves

  • Prior beer industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily route sheet.
  • Note any call-ins.
  • Reassign route assignments as needed
  • Cover open routes as needed
  • Ensure all merchandisers receive their daily route notes
  • Ensure that all merchandisers are out of the facility by 6:00am
  • Listen to all questions, concerns and complaints from merchandisers and communicate to supervisors/managers as needed
  • Ensure at the end of the day all routes get the needed help to complete the day’s work
  • During training, have a new merchandiser watch the driver count in the truck, talk to the driver, give them a few pointers about the retailers’ backroom, employees and needs/requirements
  • Train on where the keys are located, how to take assigned vehicle while filling out vehicle log accordingly (signing in and out each day) and how to check routine maintenance on the vehicle (i.e. oil level, brakes, tires, etc.)
  • Train how to install and use Encompass to perform their job/duties to meet company standards and expectations (i.e. rotating, stocking, building displays and organizing back stock)
  • Train on the location of all back-stock, isles where our product is located and displays
  • Train how to properly rotate product (new product to back stock, older product to cooler, cooler back-stock rotation and shelf rotation as needed)
  • Teach importance of cooler/backroom organization
  • Train on how to breakdown boxes
  • Train on how to check windows for facing and any out-of-stock product
  • Train on how to handle breakage, short date and out-of-date product
  • Maintain training on employees and update them on changes as needed
  • Must be able to handle any work/vehicle accidents, while properly following all company accident procedures and completing accident paperwork
  • Maintain communication with each merchandiser and supervisor throughout every shift to handle any questions or concerns
  • When a merchandiser is running behind, the Trainer will assist merchandiser until they are caught up
  • Must have all merchandisers back to the facility as scheduled each day with the Trainer being the last to leave
  • Ensure that merchandisers are returning their keys in the drop box every day
  • Report any vehicle damage or maintenance needs daily
  • Performs any other duties as directed by management
  • Have a positive attitude about all of your fellow employees when in discussions with retailers
  • Maintain open and clear communication with all managers and other employees of the company
  • Maintain a good driving record/license
