About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with healthcare organizations to transport a wide range of medical supplies, specimens, and materials. The company operates in over 30 states, maintaining an entrepreneurial feel and a culture focused on teamwork, keeping promises, and continuous improvement. The Medical Driver role involves safely driving a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. Drivers are responsible for operating hand-held scanning devices, strictly observing operating policies and schedules, and presenting a professional image. They must be able to load and unload vehicles, demonstrate safe driving, conduct vehicle inspections, and maintain a clean vehicle. Route duties are varied and may change, requiring adaptability and cooperation with teammates and clients to build a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Must be 19 years of age
  • Active driver’s license for 3 years
  • Demonstrated dependability and reliability
  • Familiarity working with and adapting to technology
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely
  • Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points
  • Ability to pass initial and random drug & alcohol screen
  • Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions
  • Excellent driving history
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination depending on location and local mandates
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lift items off storage racks
  • Comfortable walking long distances and standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review

Responsibilities

  • Safely driving and transporting lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail and related materials in a company-owned vehicle
  • Operating a hand-held scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle
  • Strictly observing operating policies, procedures and service schedules
  • Presenting a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction
  • Loading and unloading company vehicles with appropriate equipment
  • Demonstrating safe and courteous driving behavior
  • Conducting pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintaining a clean, neat and orderly vehicle
  • Performing all duties across all routes they may be assigned, as route duties vary based on client and business needs
  • Demonstrating teamwork, cooperation and adaptability with teammates and clients
  • Building and nurturing a collaborative MedSpeed team culture
