About The Position

The role of a Medical Driver involves safely driving a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. Drivers will use a hand-held scanning device for tracking, observe operating policies and schedules, present a professional image, load and unload vehicles, conduct vehicle inspections, and maintain a clean vehicle. Route duties are variable based on client and business needs, requiring adaptability and cooperation with teammates and clients to foster a collaborative culture.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Must be 19 years of age with an active driver’s license for 3 years
• Demonstrated dependability and reliability
• Familiarity working with and adapting to technology
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely
• Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points
• Ability to pass initial and random drug & alcohol screen
• Drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions
• Must have an excellent driving history
• Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination depending on location and local mandates
• Must be able to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands
• Must be able to lift items off storage racks
• Must be comfortable walking long distances and standing for long periods of time
• Complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review

Responsibilities

• Safely driving and transporting lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail and related materials in a company-owned vehicle
• Operate a hand-held scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle
• Strictly observe operating policies, procedures and service schedules
• Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction
• Load and unload company vehicles with appropriate equipment
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior
• Conduct pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain a clean, neat and orderly vehicle
• Perform all duties across all routes they may be assigned, as route assignments may change
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation and adaptability with teammates and clients
• Build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture
