About The Position

As a LEAD referee, you will oversee a team of officials, ensuring all games start on time and that staff are properly trained and supported throughout the day. You will provide scheduled breaks for officials and facilitate in-the-moment conflict resolution when needed. Your role will also involve cultivating a positive, respectful, and inclusive culture among staff, players, coaches, and families, serving as the primary point of contact on game day to ensure a smooth, professional, and enjoyable experience for all participants. In addition to leadership and game management, you will be responsible for venue and equipment oversight, which includes setting up and breaking down all necessary field equipment, ensuring the venue is clean, organized, and ready for play. You will conduct pre- and post-event checks to maintain a safe, welcoming, and professional environment. Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30 lbs without limitations. Your officiating duties will focus on safety, fairness, and fun, applying game rules consistently and confidently to maintain competitive integrity. You will make timely, accurate calls using sound knowledge of rules and officiating mechanics, maintaining control of games and handling disputes or concerns respectfully and professionally. Effective communication and collaboration are key aspects of this role. You will communicate clearly with coaches, players, and fellow officials before, during, and after games, addressing any concerns calmly and constructively. You will model sportsmanship and integrity at all times, promoting a healthy and respectful youth sports environment. Reliability and professionalism are essential, as you will be expected to arrive on time, fully prepared for all scheduled assignments, demonstrating strong leadership skills and serving as a role model for youth athletes and staff. Requirements

  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Prior experience as a soccer referee is essential and should include working with youth athletes.
  • Management or leadership experience is required—preferably in a sports, coaching, or event setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of soccer rules and regulations, with the ability to enforce them consistently and fairly.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate decisions clearly and confidently to players, coaches, and parents.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address on-field challenges calmly and effectively.
  • Dependable and punctual, with a strong commitment to attending all scheduled games and events.
  • Comfortable working with children and creating a fun, positive, and respectful environment.
  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends and evenings throughout the season.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting up to 30 lbs and performing field setup and breakdown tasks without limitations.
