About The Position

The Weekday Evening, Part-time Case Management Advocate at Harbor House Domestic & Sexual Abuse Programs is responsible for implementing, overseeing, and evaluating client services and shelter operations. This role focuses on empowering individuals affected by violence through trauma-informed practices, providing advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The advocate will work collaboratively with other staff and community partners to ensure effective support for clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent or relevant professional experience with transferrable skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet critical skills and knowledge needed for success within the position.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous advocacy experience or equivalent in related fields.
  • Basic knowledge of the criminal and civil justice system and the legal rights of victims.
  • Experience working in violence against individuals and the corresponding issues, trauma, and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide short-term individual advocacy, counseling, safety planning, and crisis intervention to all residents, including children.
  • Manage a case load of survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence, providing case management, education, support, and networking options.
  • Communicate with the Advocate team to ensure quality services to residents.
  • Oversee the operational and programmatic support services necessary for the crisis and shelter program.
  • Assess and conduct initial intake of new residents and walk-ins.
  • Enable a safe and respectful community living environment through safety checks and maintaining a dignified shelter environment.
  • Manage and triage crisis calls to assess immediate needs and support callers in developing a plan of action.
  • Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and de-escalation.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with other community service providers.
  • Participate in community meetings, trainings, and committees to network for resources and better communication.
  • Maintain accurate and timely record keeping to ensure effective demonstration of program services and support client safety.
