This position is seasonal with up to 40 hours a week for up to 6 months, no benefits. JOB OVERVIEW: Under the close supervision of a Weed Control Supervisor, performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled work in the operation of light equipment, machinery, and tools used in weed eradication. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Identify and assess noxious weed sites to determine appropriate control options. Check and service assigned equipment; perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs; report mechanical problems for shop repairs. Operate a variety of mowing equipment in the maintenance of county roads and other facilities. Apply pesticides in a safe and effective manner considering all risk and environmental factors in accordance with all State, Federal, and local regulations and label requirements. Perform required manual labor involved in weed control and eradication such as loading and unloading trucks, cutting trees and brush, manually removing noxious weeds by hand pulling, using chainsaws, pruners, and other hand tools.
