About The Position

This role is for an independent alteration professional specializing in bridal and wedding wear. The position involves altering various types of formalwear, including wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses. Specific alteration tasks include hemming, bustling, bodice/waist adjustments, strap alterations, cup insertions, and zipper repairs. The professional will be expected to work with complex structured bridal gowns that feature multiple layers, lace, beading, linings, boning, and tulle. Key responsibilities also encompass conducting fittings, taking precise measurements, and clearly communicating timelines to clients. The role demands high-quality finishing and the maintenance of an organized workspace suitable for client fittings. Additionally, there may be requests for alterations on other formalwear such as prom dresses, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, and suits.

Requirements

Proven experience with bridal and/or women's formalwear alterations
Strong garment construction knowledge + precision measuring
Machine + hand sewing proficiency
Professional communication and customer service

Responsibilities

Alter wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses (hemming, bustle, bodice/waist, straps, cups, zippers)
Work with structured bridal gowns (multiple layers, lace, beading, linings, boning/tulle)
Conduct fittings, take precise measurements, and communicate timelines clearly
Deliver high-quality finishing and maintain an organized workspace suitable for fittings
