Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Web Developer to join our B2B global marketing team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in building and maintaining our web platform. You'll be responsible for working with a multi-functional team of designers, marketers, data scientists, and engineers to develop and maintain Rakuten Advertising's marketing and event sites. You will be working with a variety of modern web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, APIs, GitHub, amongst other frameworks. Your role will also include collaborating on objectives and key results (OKR) planning, road mapping, and managing vendor relationships. This role reports to the Director of Creative at Rakuten Advertising and requires a deep understanding of web development, website properties, best practices, digital advertising, marketing automation, third-party integrations, data analysis, and a strong ability to drive results through global marketing initiatives.

  • Be a core contributor to the development, optimization, and infrastructure of the Rakuten Advertising marketing and event websites.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Growth, Brand, and SEO teams to ensure reliable, performant, accessible, and secure sites.
  • Manage the web development cycle and provide technical guidance
  • Lead implementation of technical solutions and applications
  • Develop and maintain high-quality user interfaces, ensuring accessibility standards are met and conducting visual QA to deliver polished, user-friendly experiences.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other engineers on the team.
  • Perform website maintenance updates
  • Troubleshoot glitches and debug issues as they arise.
  • Report and measure key metrics for our website properties.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in web development. Introduce innovations that improve the digital experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple website properties across various regions, with an analytical eye for optimal user journey flows.
  • Technical lead or lead developer on website projects
  • Strong fluency or understanding of programming languages
  • Knowledge and understanding of front-end and back-end development
  • Proficiency with website platforms (e.g., HTML, CSS, WordPress, GitHub, etc).
  • Experience writing code independently or with a group
  • Intricate reporting skills and traffic analysis using GA4.
  • Familiar with technical specifications and functional requirements documentation.
  • Strong understanding of user experience (UX) principles and best practices.
  • Experience with website optimization and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Knowledge in implementing Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console
  • Experience conducting website maintenance and optimization, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and clearly and briefly present solutions
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills; ability to execute under pressure, highly organized, and proactive.
  • A team player with a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience working with global teams and understanding of cultural nuances in different markets.
  • Proven track record of managing global campaigns and executing regional campaigns to meet the regionalized needs of local teams.
