The Webmaster at USC Annenberg Press will oversee the transition of the International Journal of Communication (IJoC) to a new platform, maintain the new platform, manage system updates for the IJoC system and Annenberg Press website, and provide technical support. This role involves creating promotional content, performing system training, and completing graphic design tasks to support ongoing web needs.

  • Provide technical support for the Annenberg Press and IJoC websites, including monitoring performance and diagnosing issues.
  • Manage the migration of IJoC to a new platform and maintain the website's mass email functionality.
  • Perform site maintenance, including backups and troubleshooting data loss issues.
  • Analyze and implement technical solutions and multimedia content for the websites.
  • Consult with faculty and staff to determine website needs and functionality.
  • Design and maintain the website to maximize accessibility and usability.
  • Research and summarize data for reports, analyzing trends and presenting results.
  • At least two years of web development and website management experience.
  • Experience in web page design, website management, and web graphic design.
  • Proficient in the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
  • Knowledge of university computing environments and web scripting languages.
  • Basic design skills and familiarity with open source technologies.
  • Experience as a webmaster for an academic journal is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in managing open source LAMP-based content management systems.
