About The Position
Web Server & Application Migration Consultant ROLE We need an experienced Web Server and Application Migration Consultant at the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS). DSS enhances the quality of life for all New Yorkers by providing temporary assistance to eligible individuals and families with social service and economic needs, supported by IT Services (ITS) which operates the critical technology infrastructure behind the agency’s programs. DSS is currently executing a large-scale Data Center Co-location and Migration Project to consolidate multiple data centers into a new facility at 11 MetroTech in Brooklyn, replacing end-of-life infrastructure and mitigating risk of service disruption to agency operations. In this role, you will design and oversee the migration of complex web environments, implement micro network segmentation and firewall controls, ensure application configurations comply with the new security architecture, and conduct comprehensive testing and validation before production deployment. Requirements
- 4+ years of enterprise systems administration or migration experience.
- 4+ years of expertise in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022/2025) server administration.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with IIS web servers and application middleware.
- 4+ years of strong understanding of micro-segmentation, network protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TCP/IP, FTP/SFTP, SMTP), and load balancing.
- 4+ years of experience managing SSL/TLS certificates and secure configurations

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field – preferred
Responsibilities
- Designing and overseeing the migration of complex web environments
- Implementing robust micro network segmentation, identifying and facilitating firewall requirements to protect web applications, by ensuring proper firewall controls and access between segmented networks
- Ensure that the application configurations are in compliance with the new security architecture.
- Configure and validate Web server settings to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Conduct comprehensive testing, identify and resolve issues, and finalize configurations before production deployment
