About the position

The Web Developer at Loyola Marymount University is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing the university's digital presence across web and email platforms. This role is crucial for ensuring brand consistency, accessibility, and seamless user experiences across all digital channels. The position involves collaboration with the Marketing and Brand Management team and requires a strong understanding of digital strategy and user experience in a data-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain front-end and back-end features for the university's websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Drive the execution of digital projects, including website redesigns, mobile applications, video production, and SEO initiatives.
  • Oversee project resources, including internal teams and freelancers, to deliver services on time and within budget.
  • Advise on content strategy, design, and information architecture to align digital projects with audience needs and university branding.
  • Audit and recommend improvements for digital channels.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues and content providers on best web design, coding, and digital functionality practices.
  • Review client content for consistency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as the expert on the university's CMS and digital tools, managing user access and coordinating training.
  • Ensure digital assets meet quality standards, including SEO, ADA compliance, and performance metrics.
  • Use data analytics to measure effectiveness and optimize campaigns based on insights.
  • Stay current with emerging digital technologies and trends to recommend new tools and strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, design, marketing, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years in digital strategy, marketing, or communications in an institutional or enterprise environment.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL/MySQL, XML, server-side tech, and version control (Git).
  • Experience with JS libraries, Google Analytics, SEO best practices, schema, and responsive design.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., TerminalFour, WordPress) and usability testing tools.
  • Knowledge of visual design tools (Adobe Creative Suite), web animation, and UI/UX principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
