About The Position

The Web Developer will design, code, and maintain websites and web applications for Louisiana Economic Development and its sub-brands, ensuring they meet client specification and functionality requirements. They will also work closely with team members and client to ensure preferences and requirements are achieved.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong understanding of web development principles.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with clients and team members.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Frontend Frameworks.
• Basic Backend Knowledge – Understanding how websites handle data using Node.js, Python, PHP, or Ruby on Rails is helpful. Experience with databases like MySQL or MongoDB is a bonus.
• Experience with Version Control – Knowing how to use Git and GitHub to track changes.
• Understanding of UI/UX Best Practices – A good sense of design, accessibility, and responsive layouts.
• Exposure to Cloud & Deployment Tools – While not required, some familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, or basic deployment tools.

Responsibilities

• Meet with internal and external clients to understand their needs, design preferences, and functionality requirements.
• Write code using programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP to create both the front-end and back-end of websites.
• Design user interfaces, navigation menus, and wireframes to enhance user experience.
• Integrate media, including graphics, audio, and video, into websites.
• Test websites to ensure code accuracy and functionality.
• Optimize websites for security, speed, and compatibility across browsers and devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to website performance and user experience.
• Maintain websites by updating content and making edits as requested.
