About The Position

The Office of Marketing and Communications at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks candidates for the Web Developer / Senior Web Developer. The Web Developer is responsible for translating approved website designs and prototypes into standards-based websites within the University of Nevada, Reno’s (UNR) content management system (CMS). With a focus on “back-end” programming, the position proactively manages the CMS and related administration and quality assurance activities. The Web Developer also consults on the integration of other web-based technologies and manages student interns as needed. The Senior Web Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, optimizing, and updating the University’s website and content management system. The Senior Web Developer collaborates with other teams to research, develop, and implement web governance policies and procedures to ensure the University’s website complies with accessibility standards and industry best practices. This position spearheads the web team’s research and development into new features and functionality and plans, implements, and oversees major upgrades to the website and content management system. The Senior Web Developer also manages student web interns and mentors colleagues in web development and accessibility best practices.

Requirements

  • Web Developer Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience; OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience. Related Experience: website and/or web-based application development; electronic accessibility standards or related.
  • Senior Web Developer Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related work experience; OR Master’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience. Related Experience: website and/or web-based application development; electronic accessibility standards or related.

Responsibilities

  • Translating approved website designs and prototypes into standards-based websites within the University of Nevada, Reno’s (UNR) content management system (CMS).
  • Proactively manages the CMS and related administration and quality assurance activities.
  • Consults on the integration of other web-based technologies
  • Manages student interns as needed.
  • Developing, maintaining, optimizing, and updating the University’s website and content management system.
  • Collaborates with other teams to research, develop, and implement web governance policies and procedures to ensure the University’s website complies with accessibility standards and industry best practices.
