About The Position

The Web Developer in the Marketing and Communications department at Southeast Missouri State University is responsible for designing, coding, and modifying the university's website to ensure a seamless user experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in web development, computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a web developer with a strong portfolio of successful web projects
  • Experience with front-end development web programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Velocity
  • Experience with back-end languages and frameworks such as PHP, Python, and Node.js
  • Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) like Cascade
  • Knowledge of web analytics and tracking tools like Google Analytics
  • Knowledge of responsive web design, user-experience design, and cross-browser compatibility
  • Knowledge of SEO principles
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards as described in WCAG 2.0
  • Understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and experience with version control systems
  • Familiarity with web security principles
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain SEMO's website, ensuring a consistent look and feel across all pages
  • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code using best software development practices
  • Create website layouts and user interfaces using standard HTML/CSS practices, integrating data from various back-end services and databases
  • Collaborate with designers, content creators, and other stakeholders to match visual design intent
  • Optimize websites for maximum speed and scalability
  • Ensure website functionality and stability across devices (desktop, mobile, tablet) and browsers
  • Conduct website testing and debugging to ensure high-quality performance and technical health
  • Provide ongoing website maintenance and stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Enthusiastically collaborate with team members to achieve University goals, create effective campaigns, and elevate the SEMO brand
