About The Position

The Back End Web Developer will be responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of back-end systems and server-side logic for web applications. This position works closely with senior developers and stakeholders to support feature development, database integration, and API connectivity. Participates in testing, deployment, and debugging, with a focus on learning modern back-end frameworks, improving application performance, and ensuring data integrity and security.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in design, computer science, or related program or significant related experience.
Basic experience in back-end development using PHP, Python, or Node.js
Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL or PostgreSQL), including writing and debugging SQL queries
Exposure to back-end frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Express.js, Flask) and understanding of MVC principles
Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and ability to consume or build simple APIs
Familiarity with Git version control and basic terminal commands in a Linux environment
Ability to manage multiple projects and complete them on time
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities as the need arises
Strong team orientation and the ability to communicate well to those both within the industry and other stakeholders

Nice To Haves

Experience and understanding of web technologies as they relate to Higher Education is a plus

Responsibilities

Assists in developing, testing, and maintaining server-side application logic using PHP, Python, or Node.js within a web framework (e.g., Laravel, Django)
Supports API development and integration, working with both internal and third-party RESTful services
Collaborates with other developers, designers and external agencies to implement creative within CMS or application framework
Collaborates with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements using server-side logic
Participates in code reviews, team meetings, and contributes to documentation of back-end processes and system design
Assists in monitoring application performance and logs to troubleshoot issues in production environments
Continuously learns and applies best practices in security, scalability, and code quality
Performs other related duties as assigned to support team goals and development timelines.
