About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Web Designer to support a government customer in St. Louis/Arnold, MO. The role involves applying extensive knowledge of various sciences, including Computer Science and Programming, to create designs for complex client web and mobile applications utilizing current industry programming techniques. The designer will partner with internal and external teams to conceptualize, design, and prototype excellent user experiences while maintaining functionality and simple workflows. Responsibilities also include researching and implementing modern web technologies to create innovative user interfaces and improve workflow efficiency, designing new user-facing products, and utilizing the customer's Development Operations (DevOps) systems and tools to ensure compliant code and best practices.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing a web design software (e.g., Adobe Master Collection CS6/Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, InVision Studio).
  • Demonstrated experience designing products for front-end development and web applications (e.g. wireframes, low and high-fidelity mock-ups, or click through prototypes).
  • Demonstrated experience applying best practices for improving web accessibility, usability, and technical implementation with usability tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, InVision, Axure, Framer, Adobe XD).
  • Demonstrated experience creating, editing, organizing, and storing digital file formats (e.g. tiff, gif, png, pdf, jpg, svg, html, css).

  • Demonstrated experience implementing industry standards for user experience methodologies, design technical resources, and web best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and/or implementing 18F US Web Design Standards Framework.
  • Demonstrated experience researching, or implementing best practices for web accessibility, usability, or technical implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Apply extensive knowledge of various sciences (e.g., Computer Science, Programming; Appliance Programming Interface (APIs) or web service technologies (e.g., REST APIs, SOAP, and XML).
  • Create designs for complex client web and mobile applications utilizing current industry programming techniques.
  • Partner with internal and external teams and application users to conceptualize, design, and prototype excellent user experiences while maintaining functionality and simple workflows.
  • Research and implement modern web technologies to create innovative user interfaces and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Design new user-facing products by transforming an idea from scientific presentations to websites to online productivity tools.
  • Create visual concepts by using computer software, JavaScript and other browser-based technologies.
  • Utilize the customer's Development Operations (DevOps) systems and tools (Git, Jenkins, etc.) to ensure compliant code and ensure best practices.
  • Build efficient, reusable libraries of design information for future use.
  • Identify and troubleshoot customer issues on content management system (permissions, API, web parts).
  • Utilize Web Styling Languages and applications (e.g., XML-parsing, XSLT, CSS, Web Services and REST) of multiple systems including Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Apply results of web usability testing (e.g., usability studies, creation of user profiles or personas, participatory design, surveys, heuristic evaluations, and cognitive walkthroughs) to development of applications and web sites.
