About The Position

The Pima County Information Technology Department (ITD) is seeking a proactive, highly motivated, detail-oriented, and skilled Application Developer II to join our Web/UX Team. This role is essential in maintaining and enhancing both internal and public-facing websites while ensuring compliance with web accessibility standards. The ideal candidate shall have a strong understanding of web technologies, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), web analytics, and troubleshooting skills to optimize digital platforms for usability, accessibility, and performance. As an Application Developer II, you will work closely with team members and cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that enhance user engagement and improve service delivery across various County departments and includes some user training and support. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS) or a closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND two years of work experience in software development and maintenance.
  • OR: Associate’s degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND four years of work experience in software development and maintenance.
  • (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing and supporting Enterprise Content Management Systems (ECMS), like CivicPlus, CivicOptimize, Umbraco, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and Section 508 when developing or maintaining websites.
  • Experience with SEO strategies and data-driven improvements for websites.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles (Bootstrap, CSS, Accessibility).
  • Experience providing user support to resolve basic technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain websites built using CivicPlus and Umbraco.
  • Assist editors with creating, editing, and organizing website content.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common website issues, including page display, links, forms, and media.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Help ensure websites meet accessibility standards (WCAG & ADA).
  • Test websites to ensure they work correctly on different devices and web browsers.
  • Follow SEO practices to improve website visibility and performance.
  • Provide training and support to CMS users and content editors.
  • Work with team members and other departments on website updates and improvements.
  • Document common issues and solutions as needed.
