About The Position
The Weatherization Technician at the Greater East Texas Community Action Program (GETCAP) plays a crucial role in assisting with the assessment and inspection of homes to ensure they meet the necessary guidelines for weatherization services. This position is designed for individuals who are organized, possess strong communication skills, and can work independently with minimal supervision. The technician will be responsible for conducting outreach activities, which may involve traveling in agency vehicles to various locations, including client homes and community environments. The role requires a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a criminal background check prior to employment. In this position, the technician will assist the Field Tech Lead in various essential duties, including conducting assessments, inspections, and audits, as well as preparing work write-ups and scheduling. The technician will also help other staff members with paperwork as time allows and review income documentation and assessment information before assigning work to contractors. Maintaining positive working relationships with contractors is vital, as is training field tech assistants and ensuring that all equipment is operational and ready for use. The work environment for the Weatherization Technician is diverse, involving both indoor and outdoor settings. The technician will interact with clients and other GETCAP employees, requiring effective verbal and face-to-face communication skills. The physical demands of the job include occasional bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs, as well as the ability to climb stairs and travel to various residences within the assigned areas of the county. The technician must also maintain proficiency in Department of Labor (DOE) guidelines and ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
