About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Weather Systems Technician for the Space Force Range Contract. Typical Duties Operate, maintain, and repair Weather Tower instrumentation, Doppler Radar Wind Profilers, Lightning Detection systems, Rawinsonde/Radiosonde systems, Ocean Surveillance Radar RF and control systems, subsystems and components. Displays a thorough understanding of weather sensor systems and radar systems. Good record keeping and verbal communications skills. Works well independently and in a team environment. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Two or more years of applicable experience in electronics and electrical theory or applicable range experience desired.
  • Associate degree in electronic technology, or two (2) year technical school, or equivalent military experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Computer operation and software skills to maximize productivity software and data systems.
  • Ability to work independently while in a team environment satisfactorily complete daily tasks, solve technical problems and deal with variable situations where multiple standards may exist.
  • Ability to use highly technical test equipment like oscilloscopes, analyzers, and meters.
  • Ability to read and interpret information from technical manuals, schematics, procedures, and to communicate this information to co-workers.
  • Ability to learn from experienced Weather Systems technicians.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
  • Must be able to occasionally travel to remote sites to perform maintenance
  • Ability to climb Weather Towers up to 300 feet
  • The ability to work independently
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
