About The Position

WAVY-TV 10/ WVBT FOX43 is searching for a dynamic WEATHER INTERN who is ready to experience the exciting world of TV news and weather behind the scenes. This intern will be trained to build unique weather graphics and learn how to tell a complete weather story. This is an UNPAID / FOR-CREDIT position for the Summer semester 2026 only. We are looking for someone who has completed atmospheric and meteorology courses, understands journalistic integrity, and has a passion for how weather affects everyone. In addition chosen candidate should have a basic understanding of how to read and forecast weather maps and, if possible - but not required, how to use The Weather Company MAX computer graphics. Familiarity with ADOBE Premier is a plus. Please include relevant coursework in resume/application. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and must have a willingness to learn the inner workings of a local newsroom and how all departments in a TV station work to support each other. Before beginning, the intern must be enrolled in a college degree-granting program, and will be required to show proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program. Minimum 12-15 hours per week on site during the summer. Ability to work a varying schedule Sunday through Saturday required; days and times will vary and be set in agreement with supervisor.
