About The Position

KCAL News and CBS Los Angeles are looking for a Weather Producer to join the team! This person excels at translating weather models and data into weather stories every day and works with the weather team to produce compelling, forward-looking weather forecasts with context and precision. The weather producer also needs a strategic understanding of weather programming execution based on forecast and conditions.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience as weather/producer and/or broadcast meteorologist
• Bachelor's degree or higher in atmospheric science or equivalent experience
• NWA, AMS, or CBM seal
• Expert-level knowledge of IBM Weather Company (WSI)

Nice To Haves

• Proven social media track record
• Full understanding of driving weather across social, digital, and streaming platforms.
• Strong people skills

Responsibilities

• Create graphics showing context surrounding weather patterns and trends
• Use IBM Weather Company computer system at a Super-user-level
• Help lead the process of AR/VR weather launch and work to create weather storytelling in that environment with the largest AR/VR set at CBS News & Stations.
• Build and modify weather execution strategy across dayparts
