About The Position

Are you passionate about weather and interested in a career in broadcast journalism? WGNO News is now accepting applications for its Summer, 2026 Weather Internship Program. This internship provides college students with hands-on experience in a fast-paced television newsroom, working directly with our award-winning Weather Department. Interns will gain practical exposure to forecasting, daily operations, and on-air weather production. This is an excellent opportunity for students seeking real-world training and mentorship from experienced professionals in the field. Internship Details: Department: Weather Semester: Summer, 2026 Compensation: Unpaid (must receive academic credit) Eligibility: Open to college or university students who are eligible to receive credit Schedule: Based on academic program requirements and availability What You’ll Experience: Participate in the day-to-day operations of a working weather team Collaborate with meteorologists, reporters, producers, and photojournalists Work on projects that may include forecasting preparation, graphics creation, and assisting with live weather segments Receive direct supervision and feedback in a meaningful, educational environment Requirements & Qualifications: Junior or senior enrolled in a broadcast journalism, meteorology, communications, or related program Internship must be for school credit Demonstrated interest or experience in media production or weather coverage Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently and follow instructions Previous internship experience is a plus Must adhere to all company safety protocols and guidelines Expected to maintain the confidentiality of company operations and proprietary information This internship is ideal for motivated students eager to learn and grow in the world of broadcast weather.
