About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Weather Data Quality & Systems Performance Engineer Senior to support the Space Force Range contract (SFRC). Essential Functions: Data Quality & Performance Analysis: Lead development of a comprehensive data quality monitoring plan and implement for all weather data systems. Perform analysis on weather data systems to identify data trends and anomalous performance. Identify, document, report, and track all data trends, anomalies, inconsistencies, or errors and elevate to appropriate resolution agency. Learn and understand daily and customer requirements for meteorological systems. Technical Leadership & Systems Engineering: Serve as the alternate technical authority for assigned weather data system(s), maintaining knowledge of system architecture and requirements. Support system requirements analysis to support operational acceptance and integration for system hardware upgrades and modifications. Participate in technical reviews, present status updates and risk assessments, and review engineering changes to ensure they meet requirements. Research and report on emerging data trends, coordinating with appropriate department(s). Collaboration & Communication: Proactively communicate identified data issues and their operational impacts to internal stakeholders. Coordinate with internal teams and support operational testing of meteorological instrumentation. Develop graphics and narrative reports to effectively communicate analysis results.

Requirements

  • Understanding of meteorological principles, climatology of Florida and California
  • Ability to perform data analysis
  • Problem-solving skills for detailed data analysis and detection of latent issues
  • Strong methodical analysis and creative thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency with oral and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical issues for diverse audiences and provide high-quality documentation
  • Ability to drive issue resolution, maintain accountability, and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships in a diverse, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in high-stress environments, anticipate issues, and propose proactive solutions before they impact mission readiness
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a strong emphasis on attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) field
  • 8+ years of experience in data quality, data engineering, systems engineering, or analysis of aerospace system performance
  • Experience in a systems engineering environment supporting design, development, and sustainment engineering
  • Experience with engineering product test acceptance and integration of new systems into existing architecture
  • DoD 8140 Certification (Security+)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Local travel is required between weather sites on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

Nice To Haves

  • Programming skills for data processing and automation.
  • Experience with modeling software such as Matlab.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience is preferred.
