Join a high-performing acquisition engineering team supporting U.S. Air Force acquisition programs. This position is for a Weapons Systems Engineer for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. Duties include applying knowledge and experience in systems engineering, policies, and procedures to acquire and sustain Air Force weapon systems, subsystems, acquisition programs, and product support strategies throughout their life cycles. Engineering responsibilities may include the following: Systems Engineering, Missions Systems Engineering, Autonomy Engineering Evaluation of multiple contractors' approach to one of the above mentioned engineering disciplines into conceptual designs Focus on design assessment, integration, and management of complex systems over the product life cycle Plan and review technical plans, systems integration, requirements verification and validation, technical designs, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analysis Conduct formal and informal presentations, prepare technical reports, papers, and documents and participate in conferences and discussions related to assigned systems Prepare documentation and presentation material for program milestones Provide inputs on the evaluation of technical proposals The candidate may also be required to perform a wide range of acquisition program office activities, such as: gathering acquisition program information; conducting planning and analyses for all acquisition phases; assisting in acquisition and sustainment strategy planning; tracking, and scheduling; implementing contractor performance status systems; assisting in establishing and maintaining databases; assisting in developing and analyzing key program metrics; assisting in developing and integrating risk management plans and strategies; supporting program briefings; and effectively communicating recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management.

  • Apply knowledge and experience in systems engineering, policies, and procedures to acquire and sustain Air Force weapon systems.

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED 'TOP SECRET/SCI (TS/SCI)' Federal or DoD security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • TEN (10) years experience in weapon system acquisition or sustainment including engineering principles, criteria, and procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
  • Experience in an acquisition program office (preferably fighter).
  • Experience with the documentation and analysis of requirements, specifications, design, build, and test activities.
  • Good organization skills and ability to work with minimal direction in a changing environment.
  • Clear understanding of the DoD acquisition and sustainment organizations.
