Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative force that imagines, designs, and brings to life all Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, and cruise ships worldwide. The Show Mechanical Engineering intern will join the Show Systems team, which is responsible for delivering world-class Audio-Animatronic figures, show action equipment, and special effects throughout their full lifecycle. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure quality products are delivered, utilizing processes and tools that take projects from concept design to production and installation. As an intern, you will focus on mechanical engineering tasks related to the creation of animatronic figures and show action equipment, where fantastic show quality, lifelike performance, durability, reliability, and safety are paramount. You will support different phases of the engineering process, from concept development through final design, production, testing, installation, and commissioning for a variety of theme park attractions. The diverse needs of the team will allow you to learn and grow within the mechanical engineering realm, covering areas such as design engineering, machine design, mechanical analysis, advanced 3D modeling, 3D printing, and material sciences. While candidates are not expected to have experience in every area, a passion for developing skills in these fields as they relate to themed entertainment is essential. The internship offers a unique opportunity to design mechanical components under the guidance of experienced engineers, create models and drawings in SolidWorks, perform calculations for machine designs, provide production support, and generate engineering reports to document designs.
