The WDI Tech Studio Platform Engineering Internship provides a distinguished opportunity to collaborate with the IT Infrastructure Department, supporting the readiness and operational reliability of systems and services intended for production use. The selected intern will actively participate in the evaluation and testing of emerging products and technologies deployed by WDI Glendale’s VFX, R&D, and associated departments, functioning as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team. Further responsibilities encompass assistance with comprehensive infrastructure audits, involvement in both back-end and front-end technology refresh initiatives, and substantive contributions to operational enhancement through the development of automation scripts, critical review of existing services and procedures, and the presentation of findings to the team.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication.
  • Proven interpersonal acumen and the capacity to collaborate effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Exceptional time management abilities, with demonstrated competence in multitasking and prioritization.
  • Ability to operate efficiently both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in server hardware components, including the capacity to perform repairs and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and macOS.
  • Familiarity with programming concepts and practical experience with scripting languages such as shell/bash or Python.
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, in an accredited college/university, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Fully available from Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, CA area
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of databases, networked storage solutions, and virtualization technologies is considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to onsite operations at Glendale and as required, to remote operations in Anaheim.
  • Contribute to routine operational activities, including inventory management, support ticket resolution, and general issue troubleshooting.
  • Assist with the maintenance and administration of systems and infrastructure encompassing storage, servers, and essential services in both cloud-based and on-premises environments.
  • Support the execution of infrastructure audits and the planning and realization of technology refresh cycles.
  • Design and implement scripts to automate operational processes and address technical challenges.
  • Conduct evaluations of current services and procedures, document findings, and propose recommendations for enhancement to the team.
