About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Media Facility & Equipment Manager, the Graphic Design Student Intern is responsible for supporting the design and execution of a signage project for the CMC Spring Valley Campus. This is a high visibility project that requires precision, acute attention to detail, and a passion for spending many hours working in grid systems, moving pixels around, and auditing signage for ADA compliance from a design perspective. This position is for a fixed term and is for 8 hours per week for 16 weeks. Depending on the project needs, some weeks might require more hours, and some weeks might require fewer hours. The designer will be given advanced notice of any schedule changes in the event this happens.

Requirements

  • Must be a student in the A.A.S. program of Digital Media at Colorado Mountain College or in the B.A.S. program of Integrated Media.
  • Student with a grade of at least a C in the Wayfinding Special Topics Course or Typography Course taught in Spring 2025 at CMC preferred.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, with expertise in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of the ADA, specifically relating to signage creation and design constraints.
  • Clear understanding and demonstration of design best practices including file management, stakeholder management, iteration, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with basic wayfinding design skills including hierarchy, readability, layout, composition, balance, iconography.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to work across teams and manage stakeholders.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
