About The Position

The waxer-stripper is responsible for the maintenance of the floors in residents' rooms, offices, corridors, stairwells, all common areas and other assigned areas of Eger Health Care. Essential Functions: Removal and replacement of all furniture from area before and after floor maintenance. Mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing and buffing floors.   Cleaning stairwells as assigned. Required to clean any spills. Maintenance of elevator tracks and elevator floors. Maintains safety precautions with equipment and chemicals. Responsible for maintaining adequate ventilation when mixing, applying, storing and using chemicals. Performs other related tasks as required. Reports the need for repair of furniture, fixtures and building to Supervisor, or Department Director. Reports as part of the fire brigade to all fire emergencies. Maintains confidentiality of information where applicable. Employs safe and efficient body mechanics in the line of duty. Reports all unsafe/hazardous conditions and/or equipment equipment malfunctions or breakdowns. to the appropriate supervisor and follows up as directed. Assures that work assignment areas are clean and office equipment is properly secured before leaving. Adheres to policies and procedures as outlined in departmental safety manuals, employee handbooks, safety manuals and infection control procedures and continuous quality improvement activities. Participates in facility-wide in service education and training programs. Participates in department quality improvement activities as appropriate.   Adheres to customer service guidelines including telephone performance. Gives directions and information to all residents, guest, guest, visitors, so that there is a positive, effective and orderly customer relationship.   Reports to duty as scheduled and on time. Maintains assigned equipment in a state of cleanliness and reports when repairs are needed to Supervisor or Manager.    Adheres to Eger dress code.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple work activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, residents and resident families.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous waxer-stripper experience.
  • Physically capable of performing duties involving the movement of heavy furniture and materials.
  • Physically capable of operating heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of operating a buffing machine, scrubbing machine and shampooing machine.
  • Must read and write English in order to follow directions.
