About The Position

We are seeking Designers/Engineers to join VHB’s growing, high-performing Waterfront/Coastal team. In this role, you will play a key part in the planning, permitting, and design of complex waterfront and coastal infrastructure projects across our geographic footprint. Typical project work includes: Design of marinas, piers, bulkheads, seawalls, revetments, and marine terminal structures Living shoreline and nature-based stabilization solutions Coastal flood risk assessment and mitigation Resiliency and climate adaptation design Dredged material management and related coastal infrastructure planning As a Waterfront Engineer at VHB, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to deliver innovative, science-based solutions to coastal management challenges. Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil, Structural, Waterfront, or Coastal Engineering (a Masters degree maybe substituted for 2 years of relevant work)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Marine/Waterfront Engineering
  • EIT preferred

Responsibilities

  • Successfully support ongoing Waterfront/Coastal practice projects across the VHB footprint:
  • Assist in engineering analysis, preliminary, and detail design of waterfront/coastal structures to include:
  • design and permitting of waterfront developments including piers, marinas and boardwalks
  • analysis and design of structures for flood and erosion control such as seawalls, bulkheads, revetments and breakwaters, wave fences and fendering, and private and waterfront recreation structures such as fishing piers, marina docking structures, and boat launch ramps
  • contributing to living shoreline erosion solutions designs
  • conducting/reviewing technical analyses/calculations
  • Complete mooring and berthing analyses and design
  • dredging design and permitting
  • construction contract administration
  • involved in site inspection and reports
