About The Position

Arcadis is looking for a Water Wastewater Project Engineer to join our growing team in either Virginia Beach, Virginia, Arlington, Virginia or Hanover, Maryland! The candidate in this role will provide technical expertise and leadership to our team of highly skilled engineers, while leading tasks/projects simultaneously and applying technical knowledge and expertise to develop the team’s overall capabilities. Projects will include water treatment/drinking water facility engineering, investigations, studies, analysis, designs, and construction administration services.

Requirements

  • 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or a related field of study.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of relevant water/wastewater experience.
  • Master of Science/Engineering in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Experience in design or consulting engineering or Municipal work environment.
  • Project task leadership experience including managing overall project delivery expectations, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional association(s).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, design, permit and support management of projects for water/wastewater and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities).
  • Support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFIs) and permit closeouts.
  • Oversee the development of design calculations, technical report sections, technical design drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate implementation of project requirements.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials while actively participating in client meetings.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and maintain quality, health, and safety standards.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely project completion within budget constraints.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Supervise and support the work of others, as well as mentor junior-level engineering and design/drafting staff.
  • Travel for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes, or overseeing construction activities.
