About The Position

Kleinfelder is looking to add a driven individual who is ready to take their career to the next level as a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer . This individual will engage with an established water resources engineering team in the greater Pennsylvania region helping to serve and collaborate with our internal and external stakeholders on rural and regional water/wastewater design projects and opportunities. This position is currently open for the State College, PA and Mechanicsburg, PA office locations.

Requirements

  • B.S. in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
  • 4-8 years of experience as an Engineer/EIT.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania, or the ability to get their PE within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience working in water treatment facilities, water/wastewater collection systems, and water pumping stations.
  • Experience working with Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Safe Drinking Water.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Experience with municipal funding, bidding and contract procedures.
  • Ability to work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others.
  • Self-starter who can work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Public Water/Wastewater design and permitting experience.
  • Drinking Water / Wastewater Treatment and process experience.
  • Understanding of PFAS regulations and treatment methods focused on Drinking Water.
  • Experience in PA funding application and administration process (ie. PennVEST, CDBG, DCED, etc.)
  • Experience in Bid and Construction Contract Administration
  • Land Development, site grading, and storm drainage experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and assist in the design for private and/or municipal water/wastewater systems varying in size and scope from conceptual development through construction.
  • Maintain Collaboration and Communicate with clients and team members to align expectations with project delivery.
  • Coordinate, plan and obtain permits with Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Safe Drinking Water .
  • Support projects that have been impacted by perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances ( PFAS ).
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers; delegate effectively; provide clear feedback; promote a culture of learning and development.
  • Drive profitability by managing scope, schedule, and budget to deliver on time and within budget while meeting quality expectations of all stakeholders.
