Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer for our Memphis office. As part of our design and process teams, you will work on water and wastewater projects, including drinking water/wastewater/reuse treatment facility upgrades; conveyance systems; wellfields; stormwater management; water resources; and asset management. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 5-15 years of experience in planning, design, or construction of water-related projects.
  • Experience preparing conceptual and feasibility studies; construction drawings and specifications; bidding assistance; and office/field construction support services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with engineering and construction management software.
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivation, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage small projects.
  • Strong interest in the water, wastewater, and stormwater industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in environmental, civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in GIS, CAD/BIM, BioWin, PowerBI, and database tools.

Responsibilities

  • Participation in the evaluation, planning, permitting, and design of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects as part of multidisciplinary teams, from initial studies and conceptual development through final design and construction.
  • Perform fieldwork and site visits as required throughout design and construction phases.
  • Manage small to medium projects and support management of larger projects, including planning, organizing, and supervising engineering staff.
  • Support the development of technical treatment strategies, including process selection, development of process design criteria, and project delivery.
  • Coordinate with internal technical specialists and discipline-specific design professionals to support successful project delivery.
  • Support client coordination, collaboration, and business development activities, with guidance from local office leadership.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals and technical presentations.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
