From bridge and structural engineering to civil, electrical, mechanical, and process engineering, Kleinfelder's collaborative Design Services create synergy across multiple disciplines. Step into Your New Role Kleinfelder is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Intern for the Spring/Summer 2026 to work in our lively office environment. The Hamilton and Princeton office have a particular strength in water/wastewater engineering, water quality modeling, watershed and stormwater management. We routinely provide strategic planning, regulatory compliance support, and engineering services to a wide variety of public and private sector clients. The successful student candidate will be able to follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and build strong working relationships with coworkers. This position is available in our Hamilton, NJ or Princeton, NJ office. As a Kleinfelder Intern, you will focus on learning how our organization runs and can expect to gain valuable insight that can further your interest within your chosen career field. You will also have an opportunity to meet with several department managers and learn more about the ins-and-outs of our firm's procedures and operations.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with solid written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Willingness to complete site visits to water/wastewater treatment plants and collect water samples in streams/rivers.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ArcGIS, AutoCAD and MS Office is a plus.
  • Interest in learning about water and wastewater treatment process modeling and engineering; interest in learning about watershed management and water quality modeling in waterways.

Responsibilities

  • Complete calculations and analyses related to the hydraulic and process design of water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Complete field work at water/wastewater treatment plants and collect water samples in streams/rivers.
  • Conduct environmental field investigations and gather data.
  • Work collaboratively and provide accurate data to a team as part of a hands-on learning experience.
