About The Position

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented Water-Wastewater Project Manager with a passion for water, wastewater conveyance, treatment plant evaluation, design, and construction. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an established career serving as a client-facing project manager on regional and municipal water and wastewater treatment projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to immediately contribute to an established and successful water practice in the Western and Upstate New York area (Buffalo, NY) working on a diverse range of technically challenging water resources projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, in water and/or wastewater treatment, pumping, and collection systems.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of related experience in water/wastewater consulting and engineering management.
  • Experience leading scope, technical approach, and pricing efforts for business development activities.
  • Experience in water and/or wastewater treatment, pumping stations, collection systems, and client relations.
  • Experience leading client and public presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and motivate staff and project team.
  • Experience leading design build/alternate delivery projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-discipline and complex water and wastewater design projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases, including alternative delivery projects.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients with multiple projects, to approved scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Perform technical reviews and implement AECOM quality standards.
  • Serve as a point of contact internally and externally for projects and clients in the Western and Upstate New York Area.
  • Develop and mentor mid-level and junior staff for career development.
  • Have decision-making authority and direct others in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.
  • Lead business development activities, including pursuing new clients and projects and serving as leader of proposal efforts, including technical and cost pricing.
  • Actively participate in water and wastewater organizations through presentations at conferences and volunteering.
  • This position requires travel within New York and nearby states.
  • The selected candidate must be available to work in Buffalo, NY on a scheduled basis.
