About The Position

As a W/WW Design Engineer specializing in drinking water reservoir and tank storage systems, your day will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop engineering solutions that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient water storage infrastructure. You’ll perform hydraulic modeling, structural design, and site layout planning for elevated and ground-level tanks, reservoirs, and associated piping systems. Daily tasks include preparing technical drawings and specifications, conducting site assessments, coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies, and supporting construction teams with design clarifications. Your work plays a critical role in safeguarding public health and optimizing water distribution systems for communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of water and wastewater engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad and Civil3D software.
  • This hybrid job operates between an office environment and a field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones and copy machines. May require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements.
  • While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. This job may occasionally require operating a company vehicle, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop drinking water storage solutions including elevated tanks, ground reservoirs, and associated infrastructure using industry-standard modeling and CAD tools.
  • Perform hydraulic and structural calculations to ensure system integrity, regulatory compliance, and long-term performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to define project requirements and deliver innovative, cost-effective designs.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, technical specifications, and construction documents for water storage facilities.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to support design development, troubleshoot field issues, and provide construction oversight.
  • Stay current with local, state, and federal water regulations and incorporate best practices and emerging technologies into design work.
