AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Water/Wastewater Civil Engineering Intern to join our Alexandria, VA office. Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it's like to work in a professional environment and apply what's learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.

  • Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings.
  • Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.
  • Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks.
  • Prepares assigned sections of reports working under the close review of a more experienced professional.
  • Participates on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with easily interpreted specifications.
  • Prepares material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing rough outline, and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations.
  • Attends meetings and prepares draft meeting minutes for review by senior staff.
  • Supports Project Coordinators in facilitating quality control reviews, editing and formatting technical documents, and providing general project team support as needed.
  • Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • Completed 3 years or more towards a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering.
  • No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
  • CAD and ArcGIS drafting experience recommended.
