Supervises the Water Utility Mechanics staff in the performance of repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance activities on electrical and mechanical equipment at water and wastewater treatment plants, wastewater lift stations, water distribution pump stations, and reclaim irrigation pump stations Applicants are required to attach a resume and cover letter. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervises a team of Water Utility Mechanics staff in their performance of electrical and mechanical maintenance. Works with management to plan and carry out day-to-day and special project activities. Schedules and assigns staff to the division’s work orders. Reviews records of work performed and records to ensure it is completed on time and documented properly. Maintains records of employee and division performance. Provides mentoring, coaching, and conducts on-the-job training for staff. Acts as a liaison for the Water Utilities on construction projects for both internal and external customers. Performs regular on-site safety and training evaluations. Conducts root cause analysis on system operations and maintenance issues and assists in the development of programs, policies, and procedures to prevent recurrence. Carry out disciplinary and corrective actions to ensure staff performance meets expectations. Coordinates with vendors, contractors, and City staff to schedule any specialized maintenance activities. Identifies and procures any equipment or material required for utility maintenance activities. Manages the usage of the division’s budget and assists with projecting future needs. Maintains and administers the division's on-call schedules. Reviews construction plans to ensure that they meet the design criteria and include our standardized equipment. Drafts and revises standard operating procedures, training plans, and internal policies. Conducts recruitment and hiring for the assigned division. Performs focus feedbacks and employee performance evaluations Will perform, as necessary, all duties expected of the Water Utility Mechanics staff. This position requires availability for on-call duties on a rotational schedule
