About The Position

Position Summary: The Water Pipelayer installs water lines and repairs water leaks. Essential Duties: Responsible for loading and unloading trucks. Assists in laying water pipes, tapping mains, setting fire hydrants, valves and related fittings. Assists in operating pipe handling and laying equipment. Assists in maintenance of entire water system; repair of mains, meter exchanges, repair of service lines, repair of painting of structures, building and equipment, etc. Performs a variety of semi-skilled work including rough carpentry, masonry and manual work incidental to construction and maintenance activities. Assists in operation of trucks, air compressors, tamps, drills, boring equipment, tapping machines, saws, hydraulic pipe cutters, tractors and/or other equipment.

Requirements

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Should have experience in laying water mains and related items.
Should have knowledge in the use of equipment used in laying lines.
Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Must be skilled in the use of tools and equipment.
Should have knowledge of methods, tools, equipment and materials used in the installation and repair of mains, fire hydrant taps and related fittings.
Must have ability to perform work involving physical strength and endurance.
Must have knowledge of terms related to water pipe and fittings.
