About The Position

The Water Truck Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a water truck to support construction and road maintenance projects. The primary duties include transporting and applying water for dust control, soil compaction, and maintaining optimal moisture levels at worksites. The operator ensures the safe and efficient operation of the water truck while adhering to all safety regulations and project specifications.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • CDL “Class A” Driver’s license required.
  • Tanker “N” endorsement required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • 1+ year of water truck operating experience or similar heavy machinery experience.
  • Regular attendance is required during your scheduled shift, which will include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather.
  • Must be able to work in all positions (overhead, kneeling, reaching, crawling & working in small workspaces) & be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a water truck to perform dust control and road compaction on construction sites.
  • Transport water to designated locations as required.
  • Spray water to control dust and maintain road conditions.
  • Assist with the setup and operation of water distribution systems.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the water truck to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and ensuring all safety equipment is functional.
  • Report any mechanical issues or damage to the truck promptly and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Be aware of the surroundings and communicate effectively with other workers and supervisors to prevent accidents.
  • Maintain accurate logs of water usage, truck maintenance, and any incidents or delays.
  • Complete required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate effectively with site managers and other operators regarding water requirements and schedules.
  • Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
