About The Position

The Water Treatment Technician at Aqua is responsible for the maintenance and operation of water treatment plant equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and performing laboratory testing. This role is crucial for maintaining water quality and involves monitoring systems, conducting inspections, and responding to emergencies. The position requires a commitment to safety and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• Proficient in using computer/tablet Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must obtain provisional Laboratory certification within 2 months and Operational Laboratory certification within 6 months after receipt of Provisional Certificate.
• Must obtain Class I Ohio EPA Water Certificate within 2 years and Class II Ohio EPA Water Certificate within 4 years.

Responsibilities

• Safely and effectively operates, maintains, monitors and/or controls all water treatment plant equipment and processes.
• Ensures compliance with Ohio EPA and PUCO regulatory requirements and company safety policies.
• Operates, maintains, reads, interprets, and records all instruments at the plant and remote locations via SCADA system.
• Monitors and controls SCADA system for effective operation of the water system and advises supervisors on potential emergencies.
• Performs assigned lab testing and sampling in accordance with Ohio EPA certification requirements.
• Conducts inspections of water treatment plant apparatus and assists with maintenance as required.
• Communicates and maintains relevant information regarding treatment plant operation and maintenance.
• Performs housekeeping duties and assures the security of water utility structures and property.
• Addresses internal and external customer requirements and serves as after-hours dispatch for emergencies.
