About The Position

The Water Treatment Plant Operator will report to the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor and is responsible for operation and of the underground and surface water treatment facilities, complying with environmental and safety practices, and accurate record keeping. The schedule for this position is 14 days on at the mine site located about 45-miles north of Juneau, accessible only through company transportation, and 14 days off.

  • While performing the duties of this job, employees may be frequently required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hand and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this job (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to wear appropriate and required underground Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in water treatment, industrial process, mining, or work in underground environments

Responsibilities

  • Operating a portion of the following; two 1000 – 3000 gpm mine water treatment facilities, a potable water system, an underground water treatment system, and a 10,000-gpd sewage treatment plant in a safe, cost efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Safely maintains and repairs water-treatment equipment such as pumps, piping, and filtration systems; operates water treatment systems as per standard operating procedures.
  • Plans and completes work based on Coeur Alaska’s guidelines for general work practices, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Trouble shooting, diagnosing, modifying, and repairing stationary equipment in on a surface and or underground environments.
  • Responsible for pre-shift inspection of work areas and equipment and responds accordingly to noted deficiencies.
  • Maintain treatment system logs, databases, spreadsheets, documenting plant performance, and strictly adheres to plant housekeeping standards.
  • Perform all applicable required paperwork and workplace documentation as required by the company.
  • Execute all other duties as cross-trained and requested.
  • Working on nights, weekends, and rotating shifts; shift schedules require residency in on-site camp during work rotations.
