About The Position

The Town of Leesburg is seeking a Utility Plant Operator to perform journey-level technical work in the Water Supply Division, focusing on the operation, maintenance, and cleaning of a water treatment plant and associated facilities. This role involves monitoring and controlling the facility under the guidance of senior personnel, conducting microbiology tests, adjusting treatment processes, and maintaining equipment. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain a Class IV Water Works Operator License within 18 months of hire.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
• Knowledge in MS Suite applications and relevant computer programs.
• Availability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Class IV Water Works Operator License issued by Virginia DPOR.
• Water or environmental laboratory experience.
• Experience with SCADA and Process Control Systems.
• Completion of VDH/VWEA Operators Short School - Virginia Tech.
• Backflow device certification.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related science.
• Supervisory and training experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and control the water treatment plant and associated facilities.
• Conduct tests in a microbiology lab to ensure water quality standards are met.
• Adjust treatment processes as necessary to conform to applicable standards.
• Operate wells, storage tanks, and booster stations.
• Participate in the maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Perform data entry and prepare operating reports and records.
