About The Position

The Water Treatment Plant Operator or Trainee position is responsible for ensuring the effective operation of water treatment plants in compliance with regulations set by the Oregon Health Department and the Environmental Protection Agency. The role involves monitoring treatment processes, maintaining plant operability, ensuring water quality, and addressing customer concerns. The position offers a pathway for trainees to advance to operator roles based on performance and certification requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control plant operation and treatment processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Meet state regulations and complete plant operation shift duties, including Direct Responsible Charge (DRC) duties.
  • Coordinate and monitor day-to-day shift activities, making complex process control changes as needed.
  • Patrol watershed property for fire hazards and illegal activities, and coordinate watershed access.
  • Maintain water intake screens and inspect reservoir and assets related to raw and finished water piping.
  • Respond to customer service questions and concerns from residential, industrial, and commercial sites.
  • Provide public information through tours, one-on-one interactions, and presentations.
