About The Position
The Department of Public Works, Special Districts - Water and Sanitation Division is recruiting for Water Treatment Plant Operators II, who assist in the operation and maintenance of Water Treatment Systems. These positions are assigned to Special Districts only; work sites are located throughout the County, including high/low deserts, mountains, and valleys. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the safe and economical operation, maintenance, and supervision of all water distribution, water treatment, wastewater collection and wastewater treatment facilities; and to perform related work as required. Positions of this class are characterized by having lead worker responsibilities. Supervise and participate in the operation of water treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water; monitor gauges, meters and control panels; observe variations in operating conditions, interpreting meter and gauge readings and test results to determine processing requirement. Optimizes water/wastewater treatment system's processes to ensure regulatory compliance and water quality objectives are maintained at all times. Supervise and participate in the collection of samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses.
