About The Position

The Water Treatment Operator at WPS is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, compliant, and economical generation of electricity through the operation and maintenance of water supply and treatment facilities at a combined cycle power plant. This role involves monitoring and inspecting equipment, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures during routine and emergency conditions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years of plant operations experience in a water treatment, power generation, or heavy industrial environment
• Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Support the Control Room Operator in the operation, maintenance, inspection, and monitoring of combined cycle power plant equipment.
• Operate and maintain water supply and treatment facilities to meet plant requirements.
• Ensure the reliable operation of sanitary water, service water, and fire water equipment.
• Ensure the adequacy of the water supply to plant buildings and grounds.
• Ensure the reliable operation of water pre-treatment equipment.
• Ensure the reliable operation of process water treatment equipment.
• Ensure the reliable operation of wastewater collection and treatment equipment.
• Monitor plant water chemistry/quality parameters by performing laboratory tests.
• Maintain operating logs and plant records as assigned.
• Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Support the administration of plant lock out/tag out (LOTO), hot work, and confined space entry procedures.
• Operate heavy equipment as required.
• Maintain plant equipment, buildings, and grounds in a safe, functional, clean, and orderly condition.
• Perform general housekeeping, cleaning, lawn care, and snow removal tasks as assigned.
