About The Position

Lake Havasu City is seeking an experienced, highly motivated leader with a team player attitude to serve as the Water Superintendent. This key position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and administration of the City’s Water Treatment, Water Distribution System, and related infrastructure. The Superintendent ensures regulatory compliance, system efficiency, water quality, and safety, while managing staff, budgets, and strategic planning for current and future water needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in engineering, environmental science, or related field.
  • 6+ years in Water Treatment and Distribution.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Possession of ADEQ Grade IV Water Distribution System Operator and ADEQ Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator Certifications at Hire.
  • Valid driver license required.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Water Division to various internal and external groups.
  • Establish and maintain performance metrics demonstrating efficiency of the division in achieving long-term goals while maintaining industry standards.
  • Lead the Water Division through daily challenges and capital improvement projects looking towards increased reliability and operational functionality.
  • Plan, direct, and supervise daily operations of the water utility system, including treatment facilities, wells, pumps, storage, and distribution lines.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal water quality regulations (e.g., EPA, ADEQ).
  • Develop and manage department budgets, capital improvement plans, and maintenance schedules.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate water department personnel.
  • Respond to emergency situations including main breaks, water quality issues, or natural disasters.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with other government agencies, City employees, and the public.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, the public, city officials, and other departments.
