About The Position

The Water Spider works in cooperation with the Production Coordinator to ensure shop floor operations run at peak efficiency. The Water Spider plays a critical role in supporting lean manufacturing processes by ensuring seamless material flow, waste reduction, and continuous productivity on the aerospace production floor. This position focuses on maintaining workstation readiness, managing Kanban systems, and optimizing workflow efficiency to meet high-precision manufacturing demands.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in a lean manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP software systems. Epicor is a plus.
  • Ability to perform shop math including counting, addition/subtraction, multiplication, fractional/decimal conversion, and unit of measure conversions.
  • Use basic measurement tools such as vernier calipers, micrometer, tape, and rule.
  • Comfortable working around industrial machinery.
  • Previous experience with material handling equipment a plus (i.e. forklift, pallet jack).
  • Heightened awareness to work around potential hazards with proper safety precautions.
  • Strong ability to execute verbal and written instructions in priority order with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to stay self-motivated and focused when tasks are repetitive with reliable attention to detail to avoid clerical mistakes.
  • Very dependable with a commitment to time management to ensure teammates are left uninterrupted with a steady flow of materials/suppliers.
  • Communicate all work-flow interruptions immediately.
  • Adapts to changes in processes with a willingness to make improvements and routinely offers suggestions.

Responsibilities

  • Supply raw materials, tools, and components to machines to align with production schedules.
  • Transport WIP from machines to designated staging or shipping areas.
  • Record all transactions in ERP system according to location.
  • Manage WIP counts and coordinate with scheduling to prevent shortages.
  • Operate the band saw for preparation of raw materials for a job according to blueprint dimensions.
  • Transfer raw material and work-in-progress (WIP) materials to, or between operations, recording all transactions in Epicor ERP system according to warehouse location or machine bin location.
  • Return all tools, kits, supplies, and consumables back into inventory locations after each job completion.
  • Perform daily cleanliness, organization, and standardization audits of warehouse space and machining centers after each job completion.
  • Empty chip conveyors and disposal of chips into proper waste streams.
  • Remove and clean all residual debris (oil, chips, contaminants) from work center and surroundings.
  • Assist facilities team with preventative maintenance of equipment.
